I didn’t “get” Fantastical until I needed to juggle multiple shared calendars in a customised interface. Like Fantastical, Cardhop will seem pointless to some people, and life-changing to others. This limitation will only grow as messaging apps continue to proliferate, unless Apple catches up with integration support. If you’re scoffing at me for not having these things already synced up, then Cardhop is for you.Ĭardhop can only access accounts that will sync to Apple Contacts, so you can’t use it to open Snapchat or Signal or Whatsapp. To start an email from Cardhop, you need to enable your preferred email client to handle all email links. Which means that your Gmail, Exchange, or Facebook contacts only sync to Cardhop if you sync them to Contacts first. For example, you can start a call from your desktop and send it to your phone.Ĭardhop relies on all your existing accounts, and it only accesses them through your Mac’s Contacts app. But if you often switch from computer to phone mid-task, this might save you a couple seconds each time. Of course, because Cardhop isn’t on iOS, you probably won’t have it handy most times you’re adding a contact, or texting, or calling. It’s useful if you work with teams, or D&D groups, or secret cabals. ![]() The app also supports contact groups, so you can email or text a whole pre-determined group with one command. It understands a whole chunk of text like “Emily Schermerhorn 55 73 E 5th St New York NY 10013 birthday november 12 twitter schemilyyy.” You can update contacts just as easily once Emily is created, you can add her blog by typing “emily schermerhorn URL ” - the name brings up her card and the rest fills out the info. You can copy-paste someone’s entire set of contact info into the command line and it sorts it all out. Cardhop can be downloaded from the Mac App Store.Adding and updating contacts much easier in Cardhop than in Contacts. "Cardhop is an entirely different approach and we think it's going to simplify and truly change the way people think about and interact with their contacts."Ĭardhop is normally priced at $19.99, but to celebrate its launch, Flexibits is offering it for $14.99 for a limited time. "Until now, contacts apps were basically boring databases," said Michael Simmons, Co-founder of Flexibits. Notes can be used to add details about contacts that you want to remember, leading to richer interactions. Cardhop has the potential to save time in a workflow because it automates tasks that would normally take several clicks.Ĭardhop also takes advantage of the underused "note" feature available in the default Contacts app, making a notes section front and center for each contact in the app. When using the call feature, there's also an option to place the call on your iPhone from your Mac using Bluetooth. ![]() The following quick actions are available: Call, Copy, Directions, Email, FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Large Type, Message, Skype, Telegram, Twitter, URL, and VoIP.Ĭlicking on one of the quick action buttons performs the task assigned to the button, but typing a quick action like "Skype Eric" or "Message Eric" also works. Every contact card in Cardhop features four customizable quick action buttons for interacting with contacts and performing tasks like placing a call, sending a tweet, or sending an email. Groups of contacts are also supported, so you can create a group like "work" to automatically send an email or a message to everyone you work with.Ĭardhop's most useful feature is perhaps its quick actions. If you start typing a name that's not already in your contacts list, Cardhop will automatically add a new entry with the information. Added information will sync to the default Apple Contacts app. ![]() There are dozens of fields that can be added for each contact.Įntering a phrase like "Eric 867-5309 work" will automatically add the phone number you entered to Eric's contact card under the work heading, and similar phrases can be used to quickly update or remove information for all contacts. Cardhop imports all of your contacts from your Mac (which are typically also synced with iOS devices using iCloud) and it provides an interface that makes it easy to search for an existing contact or add a new one using the same natural language parsing that's available in Fantastical.Ī search for "Eric" for example, will bring up the card for a contact named Eric, with information like phone number, email address, birth date, home address, Twitter handle, Facebook profile, Skype username, and more.
